The Humprey loft from Gossip Girl

Many of you will surely have had the opportunity, at least sometimes, to see “Gossip Girl”, one of the most-watched fiction ever; set in the city where all dreams come true, New York, with a witty study of the characters and the locations in which sequences are set.

And one of the sets it is the loft you see today on Camilla’s Secrets: the popular Humprey loft.

Among the elegant buildings of the Upper East Side and very luxurious hotels in the heart of the Big Apple, the loft you see _ with its simple and cozy style came straight to the heart of the spectators. As often happens in life, it is the simplicity that conquers us because as Pete Seeger wrote << any fool can make something complex; but it takes a genius to do something simple >>. And I think that this was precisely  the intent of the designers who have furnished the apartment: make it look every bit inside the house almost as if it had been left there by mistake, while a large study is behind the placement of the furniture.

The style of the loft could be called a perfect New York-style, trendy and with a reference to the retro taste. The shapes are clean and well harmonized with the rough walls, the colors give light without ever becoming extremely ponderanti but constantly sensitive to the authority of a warm color such as brown.

The detail of the stained glass in the front door gives that subtle sense of sophistication that gives character to the house. In the living room wall are an unfailing wall of memories, photos and thoughts approached to the wall in a disorderly manner, almost as if they were coming directly from our minds as a hat too full of reminiscences.

Around the dining table, modern taste chairs and vintage American style of the 50s are put together.

The lights are not overly powerful and light points are well divided, the carpets are present in every room to make the environment more welcoming, and in ultimis the presence of a guitar in the front room, left it is not clear if for forgetfulness or as furnishing accessory.

In this location wins simplicity, a simplicity that is both study and refinement, a simplicity that upsets and remains etched in the mind, a simplicity that conceals geniality and perfectly suited to the film’s characters who lived there, whose way of life seemed constantly recall the slogan of William Wordsworth << live with simplicity and think with greatness >>.
